VABENE++ at the ILA 2014 in Berlin

From May 20 to 25, 2014, the German Aerospace Center presented its research topics at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2014. More than 220,000 people visited the air show and had the opportunity to see aircrafts of the research fleet and results of numerous research projects of DLR. In the ILA Career Center DLR also informed about interesting career opportunities in the aerospace industry.

During the public days from May 23 to 25, 2014, private visitors had the opportunity to take a look at several aircrafts of DLR’s research fleet. The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan of DLR’s flight facility in Oberpfaffenhofen was presented together with an Airbus A320 and an Eurocopter BO 105 of DLR’s flight facility in Braunschweig at the outside exhibition area. Interested visitors could see the plane, as well as the 3K camera system of the project VABENE++ up close and get information about current research activities.

The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan with its identification D-FDLR is the smallest aircraft of DLR's flight facility in Oberpfaffenhofen. This single-engine turboprop aircraft is mainly used by DLR for remote sensing. It is especially well suited for camera flights, such as those with the 3K camera system of VABENE++.
