Vehicle fleet – DLR research vehicles

At DLR, we use state-of-the-art hardware and software to test new driving assistance systems and automated driving. We can install this software in various types of vehicles and make use of an extensive fleet of vehicles in tailored testing environments.

How is the vehicle fleet equipped?

How do drivers behave in critical situations? Which assistance systems could support them in the future? These are some of the questions we are answering at the DLR Institute of Transportation Systems.

Investigating the effects of cooperative driver assistance systems on drivers and the traffic environment requires research vehicles equipped with flexible technology. In doing so, cooperative assistance systems can be tested, analysed, and validated on the road at an early stage of development.

For traffic research in the city, we operate modular hardware and software platforms that can be installed in different types of vehicles with minimal effort, such as the ViewCar or the FASCar.

All DLR research vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and can be used individually for data collection in tailored test campaigns. The installation of V2X communication technology is possible quickly and without great effort.
