Fließende Verkehrsströme auf Straßen, Schienen, Seewegen und am Flughafen erfordern ein effizientes Verkehrsmanagement: Weniger Unfälle, weniger Wartezeit, weniger Lärm und weniger Umweltbelastung sind mit der steigenden Verkehrsdichte in Einklang zu bringen. Dieser Herausforderung stellt sich die Verkehrsforschung im DLR und erarbeitet modale sowie intermodale Methoden und Konzepte für den Personen- und Güterverkehr.
